AlertPay

Alertpay credit card processing gateway provides international payment capabilities to send money securely through email or other online tools.  Based in Montreal, Quebec, and founded in 2004, all monies deposited with AlertPay are FDIC insured, and they specialize in fascilitating the processing of monies online without exposing personal or financial information.  As a payment gateway for credit card processing, AlertPay can help you process credit cards without the need for a merchant account.

Alertpay is a Paypal alternative, I came across it when paypal banned the PTC sites and they all switched over to Alertpay.

It's a payment processor with similar but slightly lower charges to Paypal (as a Premium or BUsiness account holder) and initially had problems to get into the market due to people sending scam e-mails claiming to be alertpay or selling items much cheaper than their value. Some people fell for the bogus e-mails and therefore called it a scam even though Alertpay even had nothing to do with it.

I'm willing to try out any alternative to paypal as I don't like them but I'm not convinced Alertpay is the answer, as a seller it's difficult to convince people to pay with it and it's a long process to sign up, they need proof of address and identification. I think I prefer moneybookers and just use Alertpay to receive payments from PTC's.

Alertpay have no reputation of holding peoples money and messing up business transactions like paypal but on the other hand they do charge quite high credit card fees. Alertpay is also a good choice to do business with sites outside paypal's range in the gambling or adult sector.

So finally what do I think of Alertpay?

Well I prefer it to Paypal but Paypal is still insanely popular but it's not as good as Google Checkout or Moneybookers which for me are cheaper on the credit card transactions. Having been selling online for 9 years, I've now actually had enough of it altogether and am moving on to different things, I suppose that as a member of the public who just used it from time to time, there is really very little difference between them all but when you are looking for the best deals as a business and offer a variety of pay methods, they are definitely worth looking into.

Alertpay also offer up to $10 per referral, so if it does interest you let me know and I will send you a link!
Summary: A good payment processor but not for credit cards

How It Works - Overview

Making and receiving online payments couldn’t be easier! There are only three simple steps:

Step 1: Sender Makes A Payment

Click on a payment button or the Send Money feature. Pay by e-wallet, which can be funded by bank account or check (no personal checks or cash), or pay by credit card.

Step 2: Payment Is Processed

AlertPay processes the payment in real-time, transferring the money to the receiver’s account. A confirmation email is sent to both parties.

Step 3: Receiver Gets Paid

The money is instantly available in the receiver’s AlertPay account, which can be withdrawn by bank account, credit/debit card or check.
